Reading/Writing:
This week we continued with our Reading Centers.  During this time, children work with a partner to complete activities at 1 of 11 centers based on letter practice, word study, listening to books and sharing stories.  It is important that our classroom center expectations are clear.  This week we will building our stamina to see if we can work well with our partner for 20 minutes!

Our Story of the Week will be "Bored! Bored! Bored!" from the The 7 Habits of Happy Kids by Sean Covey.  This picture book is a great way of illustrating for children the 7 habits of a good leader.  Our first Habit is "Be Proactive" which we will discuss this week.

Our class book that we will create will be "My apple is ____."

Math:
We will begin Chapter 9: sorting.
In this chapter we will learn that there are many ways to sort items.  We are looking at what they have in common and what is different.  We want to sort by color, size, shape, number, etc.

Teacher Notes:
Birthdays:  We have a birthday coming up this month and wanted to give a reminder to all about Lindbergh Schools new food policy.  Students can no longer bring in food to celebrate.   Here are some ideas for your child's special day:   bring in their favorite book (a book that can be read to the class in 10 minutes or less), small trinket for each student, pencils, glow sticks, stickers, etc. If you have any questions about birthdays, please let me know.

Check the Class Blog!  It's updated with lots of new pictures.
