Week of....short week ;)

I enjoyed the 4 days off with my family so much, that I almost forgot I needed to include an email of our plans for this week :)

Veteran's Day: Friday, November 11th
Thank you to all of our Veterans and their families who have made sacrifices and continue to make sacrifices to keep us all safe.  It is an honor to be able to recognize these brave men and women and their families this week.
On Friday, our school will honor Veterans with a breakfast (8:45-9:15) and a patriotic ceremony (9:15) in the gym.  ALL STUDENTS: Please wear red, white and blue in honor of Veteran's Day.  If your child returned the RSVP, we look forward to meeting their veteran on Friday!

This is week 11, the last week for List 1 sight words.  Next week we will begin "Round 2".
Round 2:
We will have List 1 (the 33 words we just completed) and List 2 (30 new words that are high frequency words).  Students will be expected to read and/or write sight words based on their Reading Readiness.  This may be subject to change, as your child's word knowledge develops over the next 11 weeks.
A letter went home in the HOMEWORK folder today informing you of what YOUR child's weekly sight word expectations will be.  These expectations will be the same for the words that your child practices each week during homework.   Let me know if you have any questions!

Parent Volunteers: I am in need of an adult that can cut yarn for our Native American necklaces and wrap one end with masking tape (can be done at home) and an adult that can pull students to have them do a hand painting project (needs to come into the classroom).  Please let me know if you can help with either of these projects. Thanks!

Six Flags Reading Program: I will be sending home a red/pink form on Friday from the Six Flags Reading Program.  You can fill out your nightly reading with your child to total 360 minutes and then you receive a FREE Six Flags Ticket!!!  It is an awesome opportunity!  All forms are Due February 3rd.
