Week of 12/12

Thank you for all of the food donations last week with our Food Drive!  The students were so proud to bring in an item and donate it to our box.  It is very much appreciated!

Polar Express Day:
Will be MONDAY, 12/16.  Please have your child wear school appropriate pajamas.  They can bring slippers to wear in the classroom if they would like.  Also, please send them with a cozy blanket (that fits in their backpack) that they can cuddle up with during the movie.

STAR of the Week:
Laila did a wonderful job this past week.  She had a VERY busy week with her birthday. Check out her page on the blog.

This week we celebrate Landon!

List 2: are, all, down

Reading/Writing:
Story of the Week: Reindeer (nonfiction) and we'll begin with Polar Express :)

Writing:
Last week we read the story, The Way I Feel.  Each page described feelings we might have.  On chart paper, we ranked the feeling on a happy to sad scale.  We referred to the illustrator's examples of facial expressions to pair with the feeling.  I drew that face (to the best of my ability!) on our chart paper and encouraged students to show HOW PEOPLE FEEL in their true stories.
We will be writing a story that we will chose to publish and share with a friend.

Math:
Numbers 0-10
Calendar-Counting to 100!
Shapes-building shapes based on the number of sides and vertices

Teacher Notes:
Class party: If you are interested in helping with this, please let me know.  So far I have Mrs. Baalmann and Mrs. Morrow coming in.  Mrs. Erpelding is willing to contribute.  If you would like to be added, please let me know and I'll forward your info :)

Assessment: We are continuing with assessment.  Please make sure your child is at school each day.  I appreciate it very much!
