2nd Day

We had another successful day in Room 19!
We started our day with the question: Do we have more GIRLS or more BOYS in room 19?  Each student colored a picture to represent themselves.  Then we graphed it.

It was so easy to see that we have more boys!  Then each student filled out their own paper graph.  We practiced 1 to 1 counting and graphing at the same time.

Our specialists today was PE.   We were able to visit Mr Thomson and Mrs. Driemeyer. Thank you for remembering to send your child in tennis shoes!  Check out the Google Calendar to keep track of B and E days, our PE days.

After another fun recess and bathroom break, we returned to the classroom and read the story...
THE DAY A MONSTER CAME TO SCHOOL!

Let me pause and make a point to state what GREAT listeners we have in room 19!  These kids are being read to and LOVE stories.  It is going to be an exciting year :)
We discussed that the monster was choosing actions that were dipping into buckets, but the monster changed and began filling buckets instead!  Each student matched up with a shoulder buddy and they sorted some actions that we might see into two groups: Bucket Filling or Bucket Dipping.
The did a wonderful job!

We continued on to a fun dancing game.  It encourages good listening and following directions.  It's called If You're a Kid and your dance moves are different if you are a girl or if you are a boy.  It is a lot of fun, so feel free to play it at home!

Don't forget to check your child's character calendar to see if your child was a leader today (green), needed a warning (yellow) or needed to slow down and a few reminders to make good choices (red).  We did have a friend that went home with a BLUE day!  What does this mean? This student went above and beyond to show character and lead by action (not by announcing it to the teacher ;)  There is no doubt in my mind that this class will have many blue days!  So be looking in their character calendars.   Please sign today's date: 19th, to show that you saw how their day went.

We packed up for the bus, then gathered on the carpet and sang a song to help us learn each other's names before we left for the weekend.  "We are happy____ is here!"  Students had to introduce themselves and then introduce the person sitting to their left.  Then we jump, clap and turn around :)

Have a GREAT weekend and I will see you on Monday!!!
